We consider it of first importance to have a clear written recruitment and selection policy that comply with best practice guidance. This policy statement details all aspects of the process and includes a clear statement about our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Aim
We intend our recruitment process to be safe, thorough, comprehensive, objective, and fair. To this end this policy sets out a protocol we consider
• thoroughly vets candidates from the point of view of safeguarding and professional competence,
• obtains the most comprehensive profile possible of each candidate,
• puts in place a robust framework for assessing their suitability and eligibility systematically,
• ensures that each candidate is given an equal and appropriate opportunity to be selected.

Staff induction
We consider staff induction to be of crucial importance in our school, an environment where children with a very wide range of special needs and developmental issues are managed in a responsive and empowering way. We therefore consider that our staff induction strategy requires a separate policy statement – induction policy.
