Our mission To promote the education of young people up to the age of 25 who may be at risk of school exclusion.
Background
Inaura the inclusion charity was founded in 2000 as an independent provider of alternative learning and support, reconnecting children on the margins with their learning community and enabling them to achieve their potential.
We provide a range of different programmes to children both in and out of school, who may be excluded or non-attending, or who are at risk of being so. These programmes are based on a unique assessment and action planning process.
Core activities Managed moves - Inaura has developed and is researching a procedure whereby pupils are given a number of options and voluntarily choose to continue their education in a new environment that is better able to meet their needs. Managed moves are now a feature of school life.
Restorative conferences - a well established approach to dealing with grievances whereby the victim and offender meet tgether with supporting parties to enable the offender to take responsibility for their actions and for the community to be repaired.
Community based inclusion - a philosophy of education incorporating both managed moves and restorative conferences, whereby educational needs can be met throughout the community in a variety of locations. The core principle is that every child must be in safe, supported surroundings for the length of the school day in a setting where their social, emotional and educational needs are met.
We also provide:
Expert reports and specialist psychological assessment for family and criminal courts, schools, education services and private clients.
Consultancy for clients developing project plans and critical path schedules.
Short and long term consultancy support and practical guidance to senior managers in government, education authorities, schools, pupil referral units, and other centres of education.
Training for professionals in 'Relational Skills', a simple technique proven to be highly effective in building excellent relationships with colleagues and young people.
